This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of Cherry Red Records Ltd, UK, remastered from a master copy. In 1967 Australian John Thomas moved to Düsseldorf, got a record deal with EMI and recorded one of the era's great lost albums: Rust's 'Come With Me,' (Long Hair LHC281), followed by the eponymous 'Creepy John Thomas' album (LHC282), recorded in winter 1969 at the studio of legendary producer and sound engineer Conny Plank, who wanted to do another album with John. With John and Andy Marx now joined in the studio by Dave Hutchins and Roy Temro, 'Brother Bat Bone' continued in the same direction as the first Creepy John Thomas album with the band's leader still trippin' like a dog and rockin' like a bitch as he pursued a similar sleazy, dropped out psychedelic blues sound. Another Vietnam/acid burnout lament 'Down The Bottom' occupied the same soundscape as Lemmy's work with Sam Gopal, the title song was a sprawling nine minute acid blues blow - out while 'This Is My Body (You Know Me I'm Stoned All The Time)' was a wild fuzzed-out rocker. Possibly the album's high point though was another epic creation, 'Standing In The Sunshine,' pretty much a definitive acid comedown song. Further excerpts of reviews: Second album 'Brother Bat Bone' are 6 tracks full of heavy blues rock from of the highest shelf... forgotten British band playing heavy psychedelic/progressive rock with lots very juicy play guitars, cool vocals in the style of young Lemmy and a solid rhythm section - a complete success... These dudes can groove... Fave is 'This Is My Body,' which sounds a bit like Bob Dylan through a boogie Grand Funk filter... this album rocks along nicely... Rather irresistible progressive blues/boogie album. A totally inspired effort from start to finish (all killer/no filler) with emotionally strong, at times deeply moving vocals, tremendous axework and a loose, groovy rhythm section. Warmly recommended to Canned Heat or (early) Fleetwood Mac affectionados... Sounds at times like a mixture of Captain Beefheart and the Pink Fairies... The album comes with comprehensive insert sheet with bandstory, different covers and photos. Recommended!
