This epic three-disc set celebrates the 'Beat music' of era of British music in the mid-to-late 1960s by drawing on an epic archive of in-studio live performances recorded for broadcast on British and commonwealth radio stations. It offers a snapshot of the blues and soul-influenced pop-rock sound that dominated the charts in the UK and elsewhere in the years after the Beatles broke through in 1863. It contains almost complete sets from a handful of well-known bands - think the Troggs, Eric Burden & The New Animals, Dave Berry & The Cruisers and the Nashville Teens - as well as recordings from such lesser-celebrated acts as the Gnomes of Zurich, the Lemon Tree (whose 'Hush' was later re-made in the 1990s by Kula Shaker) and the Pirates.

The inoffensive Transcription Disc has been in and out of collectors' hands since they were originally produced in the 1960s. Conceived and manufactured strictly for export only to commonwealth radio stations for international broadcast, today, they offer an ultimately fascinating document of British Rock and its family tree. Together with insightful period interviews and a stunning collection of previously unavailable, exclusive recordings, Timebox has unearthed a treasure trove of British rock artefacts that reveal a hitherto untold history of bygone rock and pop.
