In 1985, singer Zuzana Michnová, guitarist Michal Pavlíček and three rhythmic helpers came together in the studio to create one of the best albums of that decade. In this case, the exclusive lyricist and twice composer Michnová was able to build on the important years in Marsyas, transforming from an acoustic trio into a purposefully electrified group. Multi-instrumentalist (bass guitar and synths in addition to guitar), arranger and majority composer Pavlíček effectively helped to shift the templates into truly modern trans-genre music, drawing on Zuzana's complex artistry. The support of drummers and percussionists, especially Klaudio Kryšpín, but also Jiří Hrubes and Zelenka, set the ball rolling, and the then already vastly improved studio capabilities added a luxurious sound.
Moreover, this year Pavel Karlík in the Sono studio has added a new remaster. The exceptional original cover with the title photo by Jarek Prokop and the set of lyrics was revised by Karel Haloun himself. It's a great 10 songs, the result of the collaboration of two strong personalities, both humanly and musically, perfectly fitting into the second half of the 80s. Censorship oversight was waning, more sophisticated instruments and studios offered tempting possibilities, and we revelled in the admittedly somewhat belated but groundbreaking emergence of a new generation of musicians and their albums. The one called Rány (Wounds) is one of the legendary ones.
