Bulldozer :London, England, UK • 1971-1973
Formed in 1971, Bulldozer was a London-based heavy rock band featuring Pete Isaacs, Derek Carter, Duggie Lock, and Nigel Dalling. The roots of the band are those of a jam session on Blandford Street. That's where Isaacs, formerly of The Land of Green Ginger and Asylum, and Derek Carter, ex-Shades of Time, decided they wanted to have themselves a band. They eventually recruited Lock and Dalling, both out of Barnstaple and with experience behind them, by the autumn of that year.
Following intense rehearsals, Bulldozer recorded a demo at TW Studios, which led to management under Ric Lee and IMA, a company co-owned by Tony Iommi and Norman Hood. It is claimed that Bulldozer would put on a ballistic live show, and the band had gigged at noted venues such as The Greyhound, The Marquee Club, The Cavern Club, and The Speakeasy, as well as many others. They had shared the stage with such illustrious groups as Judas Priest, Gary Moore Band, Necromandus, and Pink Fairies.
One of the group's highlights came in 1973 when they joined an impromptu jam session with guitar legend Jeff Beck. Despite their growing momentum, Bulldozer disbanded later that year after a memorable gig in Southgate, leaving behind a brief but notable legacy in the early '70s heavy rock scene.
