Unsung heroes Morning Reign combined the butt-shaking rumble of their ‘60s . A downpour of originals hold their own alongside Motown, pop, & blues covers, almost all of which are previously unissued!
During their brief but brilliant run, Morning Reign wound up taking cover from all sorts of things — the Vietnam draft, small-minded locals with a hatred of longhairs, even gun-toting audiences. When you add the indifference of the music industry to that litany of woes, it’s not a mystery why they never managed to release an album, it’s a wonder they managed to make the handful of singles that comprised their entire output.
Taking Cover tells the parts of the story that were secret for 50-plus years. Along the way, it captures the spirit of Morning Reign and the sound that kept them trekking to what lead singer Ric Seaberg describes as “every VFW Hall and Odd Fellows Hall from Salem, Oregon to Seattle,” when they weren’t busy opening up for some of the biggest bands of the ‘60s.
