PORK PIE was an fusion group founded in Baden-Baden, Germany by Dutch keyboard player Jasper VAN'T HOF, guitarist Philip CATHERINE (FOCUS, SUNBIRDS), and saxophone player Charlie MARIANO (EMBRYO, OSMOSIS, SUPERSISTER). This group of already quite known musicians was founded after VAN'T HOF's first fusion group ASSOCIATION P.C. which was an experience that was quite inspirational for him in the realm of creating jazz music with electric instruments. In this 70's iteration they were also joined by musicians like J.F. Jenny CLARK, Aldo ROMANO and Bo STIEF (ENTRANCE, RAINBOW BAND, MIDNIGHT SUN), with whom they released two albums, second of which was dedicated in memory to German bass player Peter TRUNK. The group disbanded the first time as early as 1976 but they also had a brief reunion in the 90's.
